As I considered what I wanted to do for this project, I thought about which works I liked the best. I realized I liked Hypertext Fiction the best. What I’ve always liked about hypertext fiction was how it includes hyperlinks. Hyperlinks always remind me of Wikipedia with all the links to explore. Wikipedia is a type of hypertext. I have always enjoyed exploring the internet, opening interesting links and exploring them all. And when I think of that, I think of rabbit holes. Rabbit holes are a metaphor for when one gets lost in the depths of the internet. This metaphor can also be used for talking, not just the internet. One particular friend and I always went down rabbit holes in our conversations so I decided to create a piece based on that. With each topic, something would remind us of another topic, and we would talk about it before we were reminded of another topic, the cycle continuing. Sometimes, the topics would make us think of multiple topics and we would have to talk about each one. I created this site on Wix (which uses html, but I am not a coder so I have left the html’s up to Wix). Rabbit holes make me think of my friend who passed away and the conversations we would have. For the layout, I thought of Twelve Blue and took inspiration from that as it was a very interesting work to explore. The color is based on my favorite color, purple, and it is dark purple because a rabbit’s hole is dark. The text color is white to contrast the dark. I chose not to use images within the text to represent our phone calls. I hope to continue to build on it in the upcoming year.

To navigate to a new page, you have to find the hidden topics within the text that you can click to move forward and find more pages to explore.

Happy exploring!

I am dedicating this work to my best friend, Marissa Belle. Thank you for all our rabbit hole conversations, no matter how late we stayed up.
